More than 12,000 children and teens are diagnosed with cancer each year. Often, their families must travel for care and are confronted with unexpected non-medical expenses such as transportation, housing, meals, and childcare. In some cases, a parent may have to choose between caring for their child or keeping their job and, along with it, their health insurance.
In 2009, the Genentech Foundation established the Everyday Needs Assistance Program to provide financial assistance to organizations that support families with children facing cancer. Each organization will have funds available to help ease the financial burden of families while they seek care for their child.
